2013 Davis Cup at CHTC
Chapel Hill Tennis Club hosted its vey own Davis Cup Event yesterday. I am not even sure the real Davis cup players have a spread of food that looks anythig like ours. But before I go on and on about the food let me talk about the teams. We had twelve teams participate. We had a wide array of different countries from Rwanda and Jamaica to Brazil and Switzerland. We even had a British and English team. What makes this event fun is people bring food representing their country and they also dress up in the colors of their country. Jamaica I think wins the prize for having such great costumes!!
Alan Rader, club manager, Michal Zaluski, club Tennis Director, and Lauren Herman, Brent Bennett and Dave Keeney all were there helping out yesterday and we members thank you. We also thank Shawn Hoffman for being there and helping out.
We had three rounds of tennis and plenty of beer and wine supplied by the club to keeps us relaxed and playing well. Oh and back to the food. Brazil brought enough shrimp to last days. Renaldo their team captain is an amazing cook. France brought some pate and some couscous and meatballs that were yummy, I saw crepes too and not sure who brought those but they looked delicious. There were four salads as well from Panera offered by the club. In any case those are just a few food highlights I remember. There was also a beautiful cake yet again from Tracy Magliocco. Great job it was gorgeous.
The weather could not have been more perfect for North Carolina. It was dry, warm and sunny!!
As for the pictures. We did one big group shot. Because of it being morning light I did it on the smaller staircase as I had less sunlight streaking in then on the bigger staircase. We managed to fit everyone in and do it in an orderly fashion as we had to get on the courts by 9:30. We then did some team shots which I had to get done as fast as we could so again thank you everyone for going with the fast pace. It all worked out and there are some great pictures. I then took a few of everyone playing and a few at lunch. I included some different treatments on the photos where I felt like doing another style. All the pictures can be ordered from this site. You may also leave comments under the pictures. This is a nice way to interact. If I am not mistaken the page can be tweeted or shared on FB. Again I encourage you to share as much as you wish. If there is a picture you like but you want to order in black and white and the picture is not black and white please contact me and I will edit it for you that way and re-post it on the site. Please feel free to visit my blog and facebook page for more examples of my portrait work. I specialize in Senior Portraits and families. But my love of tennis and people makes it so much fun to photograph this type of event.
The results for the tennis:
First place Team USA, 2nd Brazil, 3rd Switzerland,4th Hungary, 5th Jamaica, 6th Ireland,7th Great Britain, 8th Italy, 9th France, 10th Germany, 11th Rwanda, 12th England.
